Melton Memories

We took the boys camping a week ago with my best friend Ann and they loved it!  This was the first trip in our new pop up trailer and it was so much fun!!  We decided that it was still a little to cold to go to far north so we stayed in the lower deserty area.  We found a great little spot next to a creek (so we could relax listening to the water) and the boys and 4 dogs loved playing in it!  We had so much fun that we have decided to brave the north and go again in 2 weeks.  Anyone that would like to go give us a call!! :) Out on our hike with the dogs.  Lucy (Mama Lu), Rooger, Tucker and Kryptic Our true water dog... Sweet, Loyal, Loving, Protector... These are just a few words to describe our Chloe.   It's hard to believe it has been a week... 1 full week without her in our lives.  Even with 2 other large dogs and 2 little boys in the house it still seems empty with her gone.  I think it hits me the hardest in the early mornings when I get up because she was always with me in those quiet hours, just her and I, drinking my coffee or packing lunches.  She was ALWAYS there!   We have known for at least 6 months that she was sick.  She NEVER complained or showed to many outward signs that she was getting worse but we knew our time with her was limited.  She stayed strong right up to the end when she unexpectedly fell in the boys room last Sunday and had a seizure.  Her body just couldn't handle the cancer anymore... She ended up having numerous seizures throughout the day / night and we knew she was ready to go.  Last Monday morning Wayne helped me load...

We went to Colorado for our annual Christmas time fun!  We were able to stay for a week and enjoyed the snow.  The boys were out playing almost every day, building snow forts with Wayne.  While there we also celebrated my Birthday by doing whatever I wanted that day.  I chose to go to the Humane Society to talk to all the animals and go to the movies... We saw SING and it was great!!  We have watched it about 6 more times since getting home!  Such great music and the best part is that there are not really any scary things in it like most kids movies these days.  We also took a day to take the boys to Telluride.  We have been before but Cody didn't really remember.  We played in the snow with Rooger then went to have lunch at a little Chinese restaurant that had great food!!  Wayne was even able to get Cody to try soup!  Afterwards we took the boys on the Gondola over to the Mountain Village.  We had only gone to the top of the...

On Sunday we took the boys to the Polar Express up in Williams.  We planned this event months ago but waited to tell them until Friday night.... Needless to say they were very excited and woke up Saturday morning to write out their wish lists to Santa!!  We made it an all day event and left Sunday morning.  After a stop at Starbucks for goodies and coffee we were on our way to Flagstaff.  We took the boys to a neat little park we found a few months back and let them play for a while then went to Heritage Square for lunch and more goodies!  As dusk approached we drove to Williams to board the train. It was pretty chilly for us Arizonians so we had to make sure to bundle up!! The boys were very excited when they announced ALL ABOARD!!!  We quickly found our seats and waited for our departure.  Once the lay of the land was explained we were off!  Who knew a 6 year old would start questioning things like why aren't we going super fast if we are going...

Two weeks ago our boys were the ring bearer and bible bearer in our nieces wedding!  They were so excited!  They did a great job!  After the ceremony I passed out snacks to the family while we hung out for pictures.  I am so glad that I thought ahead and brought enough for everyone because we were all famished.  (I learned from our other nieces wedding 2-1/2 years ago when I didn't have food and the kids were Hangry and tired, I was not going to have that happen again! LOL)   After all the photos we headed over to the reception ready to party it up!!!  What a great time!  The boys (Wayne included) loved the dancing!
